Transdiagnostic Treatment: Beyond the Boundaries of the DSM-5 1 CEU - may be counted as Clinical Presenter: Dr. George Dupuy, DSW, LICSW
Clinical social workers know well the challenges and limitations of operating within the DSM-5. This training explores an alternative transdiagnostic approach which has emerged in recent decades. Rather than focusing on diagnostic categories, the transdiagnostic approach invites clinicians to identify "feedback loops" of vulnerabilities and responses; this offers a roadmap for client-led progress in a range of clinical cases. This one-hour presents the basic transdiagnostic approach utilizing a series of case studies. Participants will leave the training with an understanding of the transdiagnostic framework and tools to implement this approach in clinical practice. Learning Obejctives: 1. Participants will review limitations of diagnostic categories within the DSM-5. 2. Participants will gain understanding of a transdiagnostic treatment approach. 3. Participants will develop skills for including transdiagnostic interventions as a part of comprehensive treatment planning.
About the Presenter:
Dr. George Dupuy serves as assistant professor at St. Mary's University of Minnesota and he also provides private psychotherapy for adults. His primary research interests involve spiritual diversity in clinical social work practice and education, and he has provided trainings for clinicians and educators in this area and other areas of advanced clinical practice. In his clinical practice, Dr. Dupuy works primarily with individuals recovering from spiritual trauma.
