How Social Workers Can Help Students Learn to Thrive and Heal in the Midst of an International Public Health Crisis
This webinar will provide participants with tools and resources that will allow them to be more adequately prepared to work with children experiencing social and emotional difficulties stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Objectives: The objectives of this presentation will be to incorporate the principles of: safety, connection, and self regulation in helping children with social/emotional difficulties, stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Safety: participants will learn how to create and promote safe environments through exposure to strategies used in work with children designed to help them feel more secure.
Connection: participants will learn the importance of social workers making connections and establishing rapport with children and their parents/caregivers. Additionally, they will be introduced to strategies that can be used to successfully accomplish these goals.
Self regulation: participants will learn effective self-regulation tools and interventions that can be utilized to help students self-regulate, inside and outside of the school environment.
