An overview of symptoms, relapse warning signs, intervention strategies, and coping skills for depression and substance use disorders during the holiday season. Coping skills and intervention strategies presented will focus on how to help clients navigate the holidays while experiencing depression or early recovery from substances.
Learning Objectives:
Understanding clinical interventions for relapse prevention during the holiday seasons.
Understanding and being able to present clients with coping strategies that will help reduce depressive symptoms during the holidays.
Understanding the stages of change and how those can inform relapse prevention planning and intervention choices.
Presenters Bio: Kendra Apici is a LICSW who has spent her career working with the co-occurring population. She has been with Chartercare Health Partners since 2018 where she has worked within all areas of the hospital systems including the emergency rooms, inpatient units (including with the long-term behavioral health population), and the Outpatient Behavioral Health department. She has been the manager of the Outpatient Behavioral Health Program for the past three years where she has assisted in creating a new co-occurring IOP program as well as assisted in growing the existing mental health IOP program. Kendra has also provided LICSW supervision for staff across the hospital for the past four years and enjoys working with the next generation of social workers to ensure the growth of the profession.
