Are you curious how movement and nature can impact mental health? Join Katie Mark, MSW, LICSW, Certified Grief Educator and Certified Running Coach as she discusses her private practice, On the Mark Therapy, LLC. Katie’s practice engages clients in mental health therapy while running or walking outdoors. During this session, she will describe how she developed her private practice, client outcomes, research that links movement and nature as powerful tools when coupled with mental health therapy as well as what you as a practitioner should know if you would like to incorporate movement and nature into your practice.
Learning Objectives:
1. Attendees will learn how movement and nature can impact mental health.
2. Attendees will discover therapeutic outcomes of clients who participate in therapy sessions that include movement and nature.
3. Attendees will have an understanding of research that links the beneficial effects movement and nature can have when coupled with mental health therapy.
4. Attendees will be able to identify key components needed when incorporating movement and nature into private practice.
About the Presenter:
Katie earned her BA in Sociology / Anthropology and Criminal Justice from Gustavus Adolphus College as well as her MSW from Augsburg University. As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Katie has over a decade of experience providing social, emotional, and mental health services to individuals in a variety of settings. Katie currently works with adults seeking support with depression, anxiety, grief / loss, and life transitions in her private practice, On the Mark Therapy, LLC. Katie serves on the Board for the Minnesota Society for Clinical Social Work as co-chair of the Membership Committee. Katie also volunteers with My Team Triumph MN, an organization that runs with developmentally disabled adults to ensure all individuals have the opportunity to experience the joy of racing. When Katie isn’t training for an upcoming marathon she loves spending time with her spouse, two sons and yellow lab…in nature and moving, of course!
