  Description

This workshop will introduce clinicians to the method of Somatic Therapy. Somatic Therapy is an organic, body-oriented approach that releases traumatic shock. Expand your clinical toolbox, learn how to work with the nervous system in a manner which will ultimately reduce symptoms of Anxiety and PTSD. Participants will learn how to practice basic Somatic Therapy skills, and how to help clients to negotiate symptoms of anxiety and trauma in their bodies. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in experiential somatic exercises.

    Sara is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor with over 20 years of training and psychotherapy experience. Sara specializes in treating root causes of anxiety and trauma and has extensive experience treating addiction. Her scope of practice includes treating depression, anxiety, ptsd, relationship and communication issues, and other stress-related issues. Sara helps families who are battling addiction; she provides invaluable resources and education on fundamentals of addiction. Sara graduated from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and obtained a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Yeshiva University. Sara was a Psychology Instructor at Felician College where she created a powerful and fun learning environment. Sara fostered student autonomy while she presented them with cutting-edge techniques and trends. Sara is the Clinical Director of Bergen County's Halfway House for Women. Sara is responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations of the 34-bed facility. Sara provides individual and group clinical supervision to clinical staff, and is responsible for meeting and maintaining State Licensure requirements. Sara created and implemented the trauma program within the facility. Sara's thriving psychotherapy practice in New Jersey is her passion. Sara completed the Somatic Experiencing® Trauma Institute (SETI) Three-Year Professional Training Program and is a Provisional Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (PSEP) due to COVID. This extensive, specialized training utilizes the body to heal itself. Sara is Certified by the New Jersey National Association of Social Work Organization (NASW) to provide clinical supervision to students and professionals who are in the process of obtaining social work licensure in New Jersey. Sara is passionate about teaching and consults with Colleges and Universities as an instructor of Somatic Therapy Techniques.
