Luanda Johnson, LCSW-C, became the Coordinator of Social Work Services for Baltimore City Public Schools in January of 2022 after being a social worker in the district since 2011. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (BSW) from Morgan State University and a Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Maryland. She also obtained her Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW-C) in 2010. Before assuming her role at BCPS, she served in many other capacities at Johns Hopkins, Baltimore City and County Department of Social Services, NYC Public Schools and Pennsylvania Public Schools. She has over 26 years of experience in the ever-changing field of Social Work. Luanda is a therapist, trainer, and strong child advocate. She works with children and their families to get where they want to go. Performs case management for at-risk students as a means of correcting personal, emotional, and social maladjustments related to their educational and social progress. Luanda believes in the importance of education all people who have a direct impact on the lives of children. Arming staff with the tools needed to make children successful is one of her many passions. She also prides herself on being a liaison between families, the community, and the school district, to offer ongoing communication. She is a voice for children in need and works with children to develop their own voice. Luanda Johnson is a wife and proud mother of two children, Ariel and Clifton. As her family is important to her, she believes in “treating the children I work with as I want others to treat my children.”. This dedication contributes to the accomplishments and victories of the youth she serves.
