  Description

Coaching is one of the fastest ways to improve client-centered care. Are you interested in coaching but want to do it ethically? Are you ready to expand your skills and keep up with current trends to meet client needs? A foundation of being a good coach is being able to embody a coaching mindset. This workshop will teach you how to cultivate a coaching mindset by teaching you exactly what coaching is, how it is different from therapy, and how to bridge coaching and social work. 
Objective(s): Students will be able to:
 
  1. Examine the ethical congruence between social work and coaching (and how to use coaching as an agent of change)
  2. Understand the potential of bringing coaching to social work, including to the community level
  3. Define and differentiate between therapy and coaching 
  4. Define and differentiate a coaching mindset from other helping professional mindsets
  5. Explore and identify their own mindset as a social worker
  6. Explore and begin to shape their own mindset as a coach as the groundwork to incorporate coaching into their social work practice  
  7. Begin to explore bridging coaching and social work
  8. Explore ways to to use coaching modalities in clinical practice, in agency work, in supervision, and community settings.
  9. Evaluate if coaching could be helpful in participant’s specific social work settings
  10.  Create a strategy to implement coaching for one’s practice or agency, if desired

    Liz Lasky, PhD, LCSW, ACC Bio

    Dr. Liz Lasky, PhD, LCSW, ACC is a social worker and certified coach. She is an expert at teaching helping professionals how to coach in an ethical and evidence-based way. She is the founder and lead educator of The Coach Training Program For Helping Professionals™. She believes that coaching is the fastest way to improve client-centered care. Dr. Liz Lasky is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (NY State, MSW from Yeshiva University). She holds a PhD from Yeshiva University in Social Welfare. She is also a New York University Certified Coach and holds the International Coach Federation credential of Associate Certified Coach (ACC). She is an adjunct professor at Fordham University. She is a published author (both in peer reviewed academic journals and her own book), a professional expert for Bravo TV, and presents her research on coaching single women internationally, most notably at Harvard University. She is also a proud Fellow of The Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital, Harvard University
