This workshop addresses the emerging social issue of working with Transgender individuals, which is relevant for practitioners and administrators. For those familiar with the LGB community, we will present issues specific to Transgender folx such as complex trauma, privilege, passing, dead-naming and transitioning. Our research-conscious Affirmative practice model focuses on inclusivity, building resilience and community and the importance of structural affirmation in agencies. In addition, we discuss how social workers can become Allies on the personal and political level through confronting Transphobia, participating culturally, volunteering, etc..Learning Objectives- Clinicians will learn how to assess their clients’ readiness and specific needs in regard to dating.
