How does the brain neurologically react to stressors? How can you help children develop skills to process them?
This presentation focuses on learning how the brain neurologically reacts and holds stress/trauma and the need and impact of emotional regulation skills on this brain. The presenter teaches different types of emotional regulation skills that you can work on with students or teach/coach a whole class. The main idea is how to "Use a DIM/ER switch" to manage the stress. DIM/ER means to help the brain Distract, Interrupt, Modulate to Engage and Resolve.
Objectives:
- Participants will understand how the brain works when facing stress or trauma
- The audience can learn neurological interventions to support students in school
- Participants will leave the presentation with a number of interventions to use the next day
