This workshop is for social workers who provide intermediate, master-level social work, clinical, or psychotherapy. The intent is to increase the social work professional’s knowledge of ethical theories and principles and their application to social work practice. Social Work participants will learn how to utilize a problem-solving approach to address ethical issues and dilemmas. The components of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics to be addressed include ethical theories, ethical decision-making processes, cultural competence, and self-care.
Participants will become better acquainted with the NASW Code of Ethics and identify the standards of social work practice. Participants will discuss and recite each core value of the social work profession. Participants will be able to learn and utilize a problem-solving approach to address ethical issues/dilemmas. Attendees will be encouraged to participate by contributing to the presentation. Attendees will review the new additions that was added to the NASW Code of Ethics: Cultural competence and Self Care.
