    This course will include a review of the components of the psychosocial assessment and present various assessment formats. We will review factors that should be part of an assessment and explore ways to best collect information. Participants will have the opportunity to practice skills and discuss approaches. 

    Learning Objectives: 

    At the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

    1) Describe the essential features of a Psychosocial Assessment 

    2) Identify factors affected by health and functioning 

    3) Apply strategies and techniques to obtain a comprehensive psychosocial assessment

     4) Use the information to develop a treatment plan & document client meetings


    About the Presenters

    Lynn Stanley, LICSW - (she/her/hers) is the Executive Director for NASW NH and NASW VT. She has clinical experience and a strong macro social work background in social policy, training and facilitation, nonprofit leadership, and volunteer board coordination. She spent fourteen years with Casey Family Services: first as a clinical case manager, then providing technical assistance to foster/ adoptive parent associations, and the last six years as the Team Leader for Casey’s school based Franklin Family Resource Center. Lynn was the Lead for the NH Afterschool Network, working to close the learning opportunity gap for lower income youth and families in out of school time. She is a teaching lecturer at the University of New Hampshire. Lynn earned her BA from New College and her MSW from the University of New Hampshire. She is also a proud member of Zonta.

    Dr. Wendy St. Pierre is an Assistant Professor of Mental Health and Human Services at the University of Maine at Augusta as well as the Academic Coordinator of the Mental Health and Human Services Program. Her educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Rehabilitation, a Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) and a Ph.D. in Social Welfare. She has been a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Maine for over 20 years and has worked directly with foster children, families involved with DHHS, homeless youth, children and adults experiencing mental health crises, and individuals interested in quitting the use of nicotine products. She incorporates her years of clinical work as well as her roles as clinical supervisor and hospital administrator into her training materials.
