Traumatized children have survived an overwhelming experience of danger. So how can we adults support these children? We have developed our Circle of Compassion that pulls together both theory and practice as we look at the whole child and develop plans that enable healing.
    • Describe the Defense Cascade, trauma and traumatization, and the understandings adults need to have to respond effectively to traumatized children
    • Provide an intervention framework - the Circle of Compassion - that addresses a child's physical, emotional, relational, and educational needs
    • Share four guiding questions for collaboration between educators, families, school board personnel, mental heath professionals, and community partners
