This webinar will provide an overview of commercial sex trafficking with a definition of what sex trafficking is and what it looks like. This will include a description of online advertisements used by traffickers to advertise their victims. Emphasis will focus on why this crime is so difficult for victims to report and what warning signs and indicators look like that people working in helping professions can use to identify victims. The presentation will explore recruitment strategies and a look at two types of Traffickers/Pimps and how they operate. This will include offender/victim dynamics such as trauma bonding. Best practices will be discussed such as the Dallas Model. The presentation will conclude with a series of mini case studies from the City of Madison with a focus on the need for collaboration between agencies such as human services, law enforcement, and advocacy organizations. Learning objective one. What is Human Trafficking, and the difference between Labor Trafficking and Sex Trafficking? Learning objective two. Identify the most vulnerable segment of the population at risk to be trafficked. Learning objective three. Identify the signs indicating that someone is a Human Trafficking victim.
