The NASW Code of Ethics clearly states all social workers must have a plan for their client files if they are unable to continue services unexpectedly. They must designate a recipient to ensure clients and their confidential files are handled in an ethical manner. Does your designated recipient know how to access these files? How will your clients be informed?

This workshop will address the steps every clinician should take to prepare their designated recipient.

    Learning Objectives:
At the end of the workshop, participants will:
    • Have a list of steps they should take to prepare their designated recipient of files
    • Be able to identify possible challenges faced by being the designated recipient
    • Be able to explain the ethical responsibility of clinicians to prepare for the unexpected inability to continue services with clients
