    Course Description

    The course will address self-injury in its historical and cultural concept. The nature, prevalence and demographics of the behavior will be discussed, followed by common etiological models of non-suicidal self-injury. Special consideration will be given to nonclinical populations that self-injure such as adolescents and young adults.

    Learning Objectives

    1) Understand the history and nature of self-injury, and its differentiation to suicide.

    2) Learn the most common etiological models of self-injury, its prevalence and demographics.

    3) Learn the most common treatment models and treatment considerations for clinical practice.
