    This course will bring awareness to the factors surrounding how and why People of Color with mental illness end up in county and state prisons more than their white counterparts. It will point to the factors of race, poverty and class using a case study to highlight how mental illness intersects with law enforcement often with tragic results when the person is either Black or Brown. The course will explore solutions to this problem and the role that social worker can play in bringing about positive change to this issue.
