In this video course, Dr. Noble will explore the nature of trauma and determine how trauma can affect the supervisory relationship and progress of supervision. Stages of a professional’s development will be discussed and you'll learn the skill of motivational interviewing as a strategy to manage trauma and to encourage change.
The core components of cultural humility in supervision will be examined, including addressing the fluidity of culture and developing strategies to address social inequities that affect cultural groups. In addition to gaining the skills to distinguish between ethnicity, culture, and race in supervision and practice, you'll learn how the SIFT method of determining when learning materials about ethnicity and culture are truthful and how to find more responsible sources of information.
Dr. Noble will compare the benefits and risks of online supervision, such as ensuring confidentiality, avoiding boundary concerns, and addressing cultural differences about online interaction and teach you how to develop ways of structuring online supervision such that both supervisor and supervisee are comfortable with the process. Information on the latest ethical guidelines about online work through ASWB, NASW, and CSWE will be shared.
