Synopsis: Many social workers were raised in a culture that held up monogamy as a romantic ideal. However, the concept of ethical non-monogamy has increasingly become part of mainstream conversation and social workers are likely to find themselves working with clients who are considering experimenting with ENM in their romantic relationships or clients who are already in ethically non-monogamous relationships.
This training will define the terms commonly used in the discussion of ENM. Social workers will leave the training with a better understanding of ENM, which will help take the onus off clients to educate their social workers. Social workers will also be encouraged to explore their own personal biases regarding monogamy and ethical non-monogamy.

Learning objectives: As a result of this training, participants will:
    • Develop a basic understanding of ENM
    • Be able to define common terms associated with ENM
    • Explore personal biases regarding monogamy and ENM
