    End-of-life planning is a sensitive topic and social workers are ideally suited to initiate and guide these discussions as they explore an individual’s values and preferences. In fact, a reported 96 percent of clinical social workers conduct goals of care conversations and 80 percent are responsible for educating patients and families about their options.

    In this webinar, Gabrielle Winther, LCSW, will present on social workers role in goals of care conversations. Tips and techniques for these sensitive conversations, including active listening, will be explored as well as how clients and families can self-advocate within the medical system. This workshop will examine how to navigate when clients and families have different ideas about palliative objectives. Gabby will discuss how past traumas can impact decision-making and how that relates to the medical decision making process.
