Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is used for many individual mental health struggles, but it can also be very effective for improving relationships. When we are struggling with our partner, housemate, or friend, what’s going through our minds? How are we interpreting the other person’s remarks and behaviors? With CBT we will identify some of our “core beliefs”, about ourselves, the people around us, the way the world works, and what will happen in the future. We will learn to examine our thinking patterns, see the generalizations we may be making about other people, and begin to communicate more easily. After we change our thoughts about a situation, our feelings change. CBT is highly effective in increasing positive feelings that help us to choose actions that are more adapted to naturally improving our relationships!
