This presentation introduces "animal-informed social work," bringing a social work lens to the presence and consequence of animals in the lives of clients. Attendees will explore how clients' relationships and experiences with animals can enhance, and serve as a barrier to, treatment, and will also learn how to harness the human-animal bond to strengthen assessment, engagement, and adherence. Recommendations for managing risk, addressing gaps in service, and engaging inter-professional partnerships will be presented.
