When working with students in crisis, time is of the essence, and often social workers are called to quickly step in and handle situations. However, once the smoke clears, that is when we should look at the student’s needs, and plan based on those needs. This workshop will explore strategies and interventions that social workers can use to help a student be successful. In this workshop, we will focus on a student’s strengths, weaknesses, current interventions, community resources, etc., executing a collaborative plan to help them succeed.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Will be able to develop plans for students that are struggling within the school environment
    • Will utilize a strengths-based perspective to develop plans for students
    • Will construct plans that include student, family, and community
