No one wants to see more gun deaths and injuries. Guns, Grief & Grace: Everyone’s Toolkit is the work of an academic/community-led coalition, formed to create a sustained, non-polarized conversation that will change the ways we think, act and talk about gun violence, in the Greater Milwaukee area, throughout Wisconsin, and the United States. This initiative advances a framework of public health prevention to inspire and assist urban, suburban, small town and rural communities to engage in non-partisan civil dialogue around prevention of suicide, homicide, domestic violence, accidental and mass shootings. The coalition is creating a “community informed” online Toolkit, vetted to be non-partisan, providing tools, vetted statistics and conversation strategies that provide a “safe space” for solution-seeking dialogue. We need your help! This interactive work-shop will mutually benefit participants and presenters as we review film clips together, hear from a range of professionals in the field and engage in deeper dialogue with participants in small groups, delving into diverse stories, thoughts questions and suggestions. This workshop aims to value participants for their attained knowledge and proven resilience on the front lines of society, as they strive to continually strengthen themselves, their clients and communities.
