From IF to HOW: Working with “I can’t” or “I won’t”
We are often challenged in our work with youth, mandated clients and others because of inertia (or lack of it), brain development, hormone surges, defenses, thinking errors, stress/trauma history, & more. We must ensure that all program participants have the knowledge and support needed to experiment, explore and discover their potential. This brief workshop provides opportunities to contemplate your own participant scenario & to plan how to guide participants from “I can’t” or “I won’t” closer to “I can” or “I will”. At the end of this workshop, learners will be able to: • Conceptualize a continuum from “I can’t” or “I won’t” to “I can” or “I will” for a participant scenario. • Apply concepts &/or approaches to a participant scenario. • Plan how to apply concepts &/or approaches in day-to-day work with participants. • Feel more confident in working with a participant scenario.
