This workshop advances the discourse, theory and practice framework/s of Afri-Centric (Afrocentric) Social Work and contributions of the late social work scholar. Dr. Aminifu R. Harvey. Dr. Harvey was a significant innovator of African Centered Social Work practice as noted by his historical scholarship, construction of theraputic programs and in past workshops, conferences and lectures. In 1984, he wrote what is believed to be the first government funded Afrocentric mental health family- adolescent therapeutic program in the country in Washington D.C.
This workshop advances Afri-centric social work as a still evolving culturally centered paradigm and a form of social agency.
