Social workers carry the load for their clients/patients/consumers, as well as for themselves and their loved ones. At a time when there is so much uncertainty, self-care is imminent. This training is centered around understanding and managing compassion fatigue while underlining the importance of self-care. Participants will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue, differentiate it from burnout, and explore effective strategies for prevention and recovery. Trainees will gain practical tools to build resilience and create a wellness plan that identifies areas in their lives to find better balance and maintain their emotional, mental, and physical well-being. The goal is to equip social workers with the knowledge and skills to care for themselves while continuing to support those they provide service. ■Define compassion fatigue and explain its impact on mental and emotional well-being. ■Identify the key differences between compassion fatigue and burnout. ■Define key areas in life that need attention to maintain balance ■Develop a compassion practice including strategies for building resilience and preventing burnout.
