After providing background information on the project, the team presents research on shame and poverty and invite participants to discuss connections they see between their practice and the research. We also take time to identify our own social class backgrounds and reflect on the implicit biases we hold from these perspectives. Following this, we present 10 practices that participants can use in order to reduce poverty-based shame both in their individual practice as well as within their organization and communities. Throughout the presentation we draw on quotes directly from our local interviews to highlight the practices we are promoting. Finally, we present participants with a large collection of resources on the topics covered and conclude with time for questions and comments.
