Activating Self-Determination for Social Work Clients
Social workers have an ethical duty to promote client self-determination. What does that look like in practice? It's much more than "letting" clients make decisions and "not judging" client actions. Reconnect with a practice value that distinguishes social work from other professions. We'll examine the meaning of self-determination and discover tools and strategies for developing it in everyday practice. 1.5 hours for a 90 minute session, eligible for Ethics credits.
