The purpose of this presentation is to highlight the social contexts undergirding the opioid epidemic with a particular focus on vulnerable populations.  The premise of the presentation is that by presenting data that highlights populations that are at greater risk of opioid misuse such as low-income individuals, racial and ethnic minorities, homeless and incarcerated individuals, and people with a history of mental health and substance use disorders, greater attention will be paid to helping individuals, families, and communities impacted by opioids misuse. The presentation will include ample time for participants to discuss among themselves and to share with the larger audience innovative preventive and treatment programs and initiatives that exist in their communities.
