    Madison WI is known as a “tale of two cities” due to its stark racial and ethnic disparities.  Learn about the City of Madison’s Equal Opportunities Commission’s efforts to create a Truth and Reconciliation process that engages BIPOC residents and organizations in a citywide effort to address and repair the harms perpetuated on BIPOC individuals and communities.  Participants will learn about past and current efforts to use a Truth and Reconciliation process to advance equity and social justice.

    1. To understand the purpose of the truth and reconciliation approach.
    2. To learn how the truth and reconciliation process has been used in the United States and throughout the world.
    3. Understand the need for the truth and reconciliation approach in Madison and Wisconsin as well as barriers to implementation.
