Understanding Evaluation Assessments for Gender Affirming Treatments
In order to receive gender affirming medically necessary care, transgender and gender non-binary individuals are often required to see a licensed provider to get clearance for gender affirming treatments. In order to provide quality care, advocate for your clients, and link individuals to inclusive services, it is important to have an understanding of what is involved in these assessments. This training will build upon your knowledge of the DSM-5, clinical skills, and providing affirming LGBTQ+ care. Participants will gain an increased understanding of Gender Dysphoria, gain an overview of common gender affirming treatments, explore the components of an evaluation for gender affirming treatments, increase their awareness of the role of the provider in conducting the evaluation, and gain knowledge of available resources for additional training and support.
