Let’s Talk About Sex: Tools for Addressing Sensitive Topics with Confidence
Sex and sexuality are normal, healthy parts of life yet they are also often shrouded in stigma and misinformation. It can be hard to discuss sex and sexuality with clients in a way that feels authentic due to workplace constraints, our own fears, client discomfort, and more. Yet caring for the “whole person” is one of the charges of our profession. This session will provide an overview of tools for increasing provider/clinician comfort when talking about sensitive topics like sex, models for navigating conversations with clients, and an opportunity to practice these skills with others. Objectives:
By the end of this session, attendees will name the four stages of the PLISSIT model.
By the end of this session, attendees will name two ways to improve their own knowledge of and comfort discussing sex and sexuality.
By the end of this session, attendees will model one element of the PLISSIT model in conversation with another.
