Medical Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act - Presented by the NASW-NJ Chapter
Social workers—particularly those working in hospital, hospice, health care, and senior care environments—often have an important role in helping individuals identify the end-of-life options available to them. The New Jersey Medical Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act went into effect August 1, 2019. The law allows mentally capable, terminally ill adults with 6 months or fewer left to live the option to get a doctor’s prescription for medication they can decide to take if their suffering becomes unbearable. This webinar gives an overview of the law and also explore how Social Workers can work with their clients around this sensitive issue.
