Aging in place spares older adults from the negative effects of relocation, transition and abandoning their established social networks. In addition to benefiting the individual older adult, aging in place also has considerable economic benefits. Social workers have a vital role in enabling older adults to stay in their home and remain independent for as long as possible through their role as clinicians, case managers, educators, Administrators and advocates.
