Rituals, memorials, and funerals provide ways for those who survive a death to grieve and begin a healthy path to healing. Grief is a lonely and isolating experience in and of itself, so it's no surprise one of the most time-tested ways of coping with the grief of losing a friend or loved one is to practice social connection, to be with other mourners.

Traditions that support mourning and grieving include Jewish Shiva, Catholic Mass, New Orleans Funeral Processionals, and Black Homegoing Celebrations. Restrictions enacted to prevent the spread of COVID-19 last year prohibited people from gathering and eliminated the physical contact so important in the grieving process. Funerals were livestreamed with only immediate family present upholding the six-foot rule, condolences took place over the phone. Poor and Black Communities were overrepresented in the death tolls and most impacted by the experience of abbreviated grief.

Join us for this webinar to examine the competencies around treating grief during COVID-19 and gain tools to help your clients fully process their loss, as we embrace new ways to heal.
