The facilitator will discuss the challenges she faced upon relocating to Anchorage in 1997, particularly the cultural disorientation she experienced as a result of moving to a Western city. Participants will analyze “Keep Paddling Against the Wind” written by Yaari Walker that offers her unique perspective on Western culture. You will have a better understanding of the cultural differences between Western and Yupik cultures.
