Under a new federal rule that went into effect on January 1, 2022, health providers, including clinical social workers, must provide good faith estimates (GFEs) to uninsured and self-pay patients. The rule, which was issued in late 2021, specifies the types of information that must be included in GFEs and timeframes for delivery. It also specifies a dispute resolution process that patients can pursue if they receive a bill that exceeds an estimate by $400 or more. This webinar will outline the rule’s provisions as they relate to clinical social workers, advocacy efforts NASW is undertaking to address concerns with the rule, and what’s on the horizon in the future regarding the provision of GFEs for patients who intend to use their health insurance. There will be time for Q and A. To see NASW’s resources on the new regulation, go to https://www.socialworkers.org/Practice/Clinical-Social-Work/No-Surprises-Act-Regulations-2022
