Why is it so hard to achieve balance in our giving and doing for self and others when “Self-Care” is so popular and recommended? We will deconstruct the dynamics of depletion which often have roots in psychological history and culture. One of the benefits of integrative practices like meditation, hypnotherapy and reiki are that they can be accessed passively, at times when folks lack the energy for rejuvenation but need it the most. We will discuss simple measurement tools to raise clients’ awareness of their starting points as well as progress. We will sample several integrative tools as examples of replenishing practices.
    Learning Goals
    1.      Illustrate for attendees how unhealthy cultural norms and psychological conditioning create the proclivity to overdo, over-give and get out of balance.
    2.      Introduce a wellness self-assessment that attendees can use as pre- and post-measurements with clients.
    3.      Facilitate an introduction to the integrative practices of meditation, hypnotherapy and Reiki and describe how they can benefit their clients as well as themselves.
