Adding Conceptualizations of Power, Privilege and Oppression to Drug Court Practice: Enhancing Outcomes
In this webinar we will review drug court evaluations and determine how missing concepts influence current practice. We will also discuss options useful in enhancing how considerations of race, racism, power, privilege and oppression can help policy and practice based on the literature.
Objectives:
Identify ways in which oppression may impact the treatment of substance-using African American women.
Identify how failing to address power differentials may contribute to inequitable drug court policy and practice.
Learn how social workers can incorporate social constructionism to enhance their work with marginalized populations in drug court.
