    The webinar will provide an overview of the Afghan population who had to flee the country after the U.S. pulled out military and political support. Due to radical changes in the refugee resettlement programs in the past years, social support organizations were understaffed and unable to provide cultural orientation services to those arriving to the U.S. and connecting them to services. This webinar is designed to inform social workers on best practices in providing general and clinical direct practices.

    Learning Objectives:
    • Participants will understand cultural concepts that are specific to people from Afghanistan. They will learn what languages, faith, and other cultural concepts that are population specific. 
    • Participants will be provided an overview of Micro Social Work Practice with people from Afghanistan in aspects of direct practice that include case management and clinical work.
    • Participants will understand of culturally appropriate clinical treatment from a traditional perspective. 
    • Participants will be provided with case studies in application of trauma informed culturally responsive therapeutic interventions.
