A 3 hour overview of the brain chemistry of ADHD, how it affects motivation and best practices for treatment.
Learning objectives:
1. Participants will be able to explain ADHD as a neurodevelopmental disorder
2. Participants will be able to describe why people with ADHD do not respond to conventional rewards and motivators
3. Participants will be able to identify the classes of medication used to treat ADHD
4. Participants will be able to discuss performance based methods to help people with ADHD
About the presenter:
Christine Miller, Ed.M., LCMHC, is a psychotherapist in private practice in Bedford, NH who has been adjunct faculty at Plymouth State University Graduate School, NHTI, and New England College. She is a clinician with 45+ years of experience in treating women and adolescents in varied settings including schools, juvenile justice, a group home and family planning clinics. Christine specializes in integrating therapeutic tools, tailoring them to the individual and providing short-term, focused and brief psychotherapy.
Christine received her Master of Education from Boston University. She designs and leads day-long workshops for mental health professionals and educators. Her particular interests are the biological basis of behavior and psychopharmacology, anxiety disorders, psychiatric disorders associated with reproduction, and teens/women’s issues.
