Terri Nicole Sawyer, LCSW, CFLE
Dr. Terri Nicole Sawyer became a doctor of social work in her mid 40s. She started her late teenage years as a teen mom. As a single mom, she put herself through college and figured out ways to find employment that allowed her to have her children with her. After 19 years of teenage social work, she went into private practice being one of the first adopters of telehealth therapy.
Annika Hunt, LCSW
Annika Hunt has been practicing Social Work for over 20:years in the Utah community. Her areas of practice have been Medical Social Work, Military Social Work and administrative social work. Her areas of interest include, leadership development and coaching, program development and evaluation, social work and technology and social work in non-traditional settings. Annika currently serves as NASW -Ut Vice President and chairs the Legislative Committee.
Shandy Clark
Shandy Clark is on the Board of Directors for the NASW Utah Chapter as their BSW Representative and sits on their Legislative and Community Collaboration Committees. She received her Bachelors in Social Work through Utah Valley University and served as president for the Social Work Student Association there. While in school she pioneered UVU’s first Mental Health Conference run by social work students.
Professionally, she had spent 3 years at a treatment center as their lead trainer for their employees. She has created employee trainings on DBT, Equity and Diversity, Suicide Prevention, Verbal De Escalation in crisis, and more! Shandy has had various internship opportunities working in foster care, treatment for schizophrenia population, rehab centers, and the Utah legislature. Currently, Shandy is a fund development assistant for the YMCA Non Profit here in Utah. She is passionate about pushing the social work profession forward and helping those in the field stay dynamic and competent in various areas of the field.
Mark Bigler, LCSW, PhD
Mark O. Bigler, LCSW, PhD is a Professor and chair of the Department of Social Work and Gerontology at Weber State University. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and sex therapist and has worked with couples in private practice for several years. In addition, he has devoted a good share of his professional life to HIV/AIDS prevention and clinical services in Utah and in New York City in both substance abuse treatment and AIDS services settings. His scholarship and professional activities also focus on harm reduction and international drug policy. He has been a full-time faculty member in the Department of Social Work and Gerontology at Weber State University since 1999 and has served as the department chair since 2005.
Jeff Scott, LCSW
Growing up with nine divorces between his parents, it became imperative in his later years that Jeff understood how relationships failed and how they succeeded.
Jeff is an ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist & Supervisor, and specializes in couples therapy and LGBTQIA+ in the Salt Lake area. He is the President of the Northern Utah Emotionally Focused Therapy non-profit community Board and Chair of NASW's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee.
Jeff's professional development interests are focused on growing professionally without shame and with a growth mindset. He presented at the Utah Valley University Bachelors/Masters graduating class conference and has guest taught an introductory class in EFT at Utah State University.
In addition to his clinical work, he was a board member for the Utah Chess Association, sings tenor for the Salt Lake Vocal Artists and plays Tuba for the Salt Lake Wind Symphony. He has a two year old daughter and is teaching her how to travel young and value culture from around the world. In 2020, Jeff presented at the Bountiful Utah TEDx conference to discuss how he grew through his own cultural biases to embrace people different from him; a message he wishes to continually teach.
Jeff received his Master of Social Work degree and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Utah, and has been practicing social work for nine years. He is licensed in Utah and Washington State. His group practice, Ascend Higher, is located in downtown Salt Lake City.
