Interagency Collaboration: A Community-Driven Solution for Macro Social Work Practice – Presented by the NASW Massachusetts Chapter
Not every social issue can be solved by one single organization. Sometimes agencies must work together to obtain the results that they are striving for. Social work instructor Karen Zgota has created an online resource that focuses on macro social work practice. This chat resource helps organizations to work together to identify systemic issues on the macro level.Through this, they are able to use collaboration as a way to make better referrals for clients and also integrate community services. This collaboration comes about when a single organization does not succeed in their goals. Although it eventually fades, the way that these organizations connect will help to address larger social problems that affect communities as a whole. Social workers can then apply an interagency collaboration theoretical framework to real-world macro social work settings. There are always unexpected uncertainties that arise, but this collaboration is essential for social workers to succeed in addressing systemic issues.
The reader will be able to:
Describe and understand interagency collaborations as an option for macro social work practice
Discuss benefits, limitations, processes, and potential outcomes of interagency collaborations
