Animals in Service Roles: Legal, Ethical and Practical Issues - Presented by the North Carolina Chapter
This webinar will explore the 'alphabet soup' of animals that serve as medical and therapeutic aides (SAs, ESAs, and TAs), and what the expanded role of animals means for social work practice. The legal definitions of working (vs. companion) animals will be presented alongside the ethical and practical issues that may erupt when social workers are asked to evaluate, treat, and/or advocate for clients whose animals play a focal role in their health and wellbeing. Guidelines for how to problem-solve as an 'animal-informed' social worker will be presented.
