About 20% of older adults experience major mental health conditions, yet fewer than 1 in 6 of these elders receive any type of mental health attention. This workshop will examine geriatric mental health concerns and their impact on social service provision and supervision, provide concepts supporting each supervisory practice, and will consider potential solutions to barriers for achieving each supervisory practice.
Interwoven throughout the curriculum will be a focus on cultural competency, racial equity, and diversity issues related to staff, clients and communities.
Expanding Knowledge of Mental Health in Later Life may be taken individually or as part of the 10 training modules for which the enrollee may earn the online SLA Certificate.
