This training explores patterns of opioid and stimulant use through lessons learned from Baltimore City, grounding discussion in locally observed trends, community context, and service realities. Participants examine how social, structural, and behavioral factors shape substance use, overdose risk, and engagement with care. Emphasis is placed on translating local data into practical strategies to support prevention, opioid-related disease prevention, and a coordinated response across health and social service settings.
Learning Objectives:
Describe current opioid and stimulant use patterns and explain how social and environmental factors influence risks and outcomes.
Interpret community-level substance use indicators to inform prevention, outreach, and engagement strategies.
Identify practical, evidence-informed responses that align with local realities, including prevention, referral pathways, and cross-sector collaboration.
