Synopsis: This two-hour training will focus on the upcoming 2026 Maryland General Assembly Session. Public Policy Partners will demystify the legislative and budget processes, teaching you how to influence them. We will discuss our recent legislative success in passing the multi-state compact bill in 2025 and examine ways to be most effective in this time when health and social support programs are facing unprecedented changes. We will also address the need to involve people directly impacted by various programs and issues. Learning Objectives: Participants will learn: 1. How laws are made in Maryland and who makes them. 2. How to become an effective advocate to influence the legislative and budget processes. 3. How to increase your ability to effectively participate in shaping public policy.
