Owner, Consultants for ChangeSynopsis: This 3-hour workshop is specifically designed for Social Workers seeking to rigorously align their practice with the highest standards of the NASW Code of Ethics. Moving beyond theoretical concepts, this training provides a practical framework for identifying, analyzing, and interrupting the implicit biases that can unknowingly compromise client assessment, service delivery, and professional integrity.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:
1.
Identify the difference between explicit and implicit bias and explain how implicit associations are formed within the brain's cognitive schema.
2.
Analyze the ethical and systemic impact of implicit bias on key social work domains, including client assessment, diagnosis, resource allocation, and supervision, referencing the NASW Code of Ethics.
3.
Connect the concept of implicit bias directly to the ethical mandate of
Use of Self in professional practice.
4. Develop and
demonstrate at least three specific, real-time strategies to interrupt biased thinking and action in client-facing scenarios.
