Demystifying Psychedelics for Mental Health: What It Is, What It Isn’t, and Who It’s For

    Tuesday, May 12, 2026 - 10:00am-12:00pm CT

    Presenter: Jade Erickson, LICSW

    2 CEUs - Clinical

In recent years the proposed benefits and usage of psychedelics as a mental health intervention has been gaining traction. With positive research trending around psychedelic use for “treatment resistant depression”, trauma, and substance use, our greater communities are becoming curious. This presentation will explore the science, benefits, and risks for utilizing psychedelics for mental health concerns, primarily the protocol of “Psychedelic Assisted Therapy”, which combines the use of psychedelics with traditional psychotherapy. This presentation seeks to demystify the use of psychedelics, including exploring historical use and misuse, the indigenous roots for this work, and current laws and use in Minnesota. Recommended protocol for “Psychedelic Assisted Therapy” will be outlined and explored.

    Learning Objectives

    1. Learn and identify the protocol for Psychedelic Assisted Therapy

    2. Explore the history of the use of psychedelics for mental health, as well as the misinformation

    3. Learn and understand the current neuroscience research of psychedelics on the brain and neuropathways
